Identification and assessment of the reasons for the formation of emotional stress among the urban population in terms of hyperurbanization
Abstract
We studied the effect of hyper urbanization processes in the formation of the reasons contributing to the prevalence of emotional stress (ES) among urban residents and their evaluation. The work was carried out on the base of 3 polyclinics in Baku (patients), 3 schools and 4 kindergartens (parents), 12 retail facilities and offices (employees). A questionnaire Reeder and SF-36, adapted to local conditions were used. 1787 questionnaires and medical charts in hospitals were analyzed. A fixed group of 857 residents were followed for 4-7 months. Results. A low level of ES was detected in29,3±1,1% of the population, the average level of 51,3±1,2% (р<0,001), a strong level of 19,4±0,9% (р<0,001). 16 “family”and 12 “service” stressors, playing a major role in the formation of ES were defined. In a strong level of ES on average of5,47±0,32 and of 5,12±0,31 units of marked stressors influence upon the organism. The effectiveness of training residentswith the measures of coping ES and their implementation for 4-7 months is 45,9±2,1 percent. Conclusion. Organizational andinformational work among physicians on the appropriate assistance to the population concerning ES, spreading measures ofcoping and training urban residents how to cope ES allows to eliminate effects of stressors on the organism.
