Demographic situation in Siberia and the far east as a factor of the limitations of the terms of development of the forest and chemical industry
Abstract
The development of the economy of Siberia and the Far East is given considerable attention. The forest and chemical complex are the main industries of these regions. In the long-term plans for the development of the region until2030, it is planned to increase the volume of production and consumption of wood-chemical processing products by 1.5-2times. Ensuring the implementation of plans for the development of the forestry and chemical industries inevitably faces theproblem of insufficient staffing of the core enterprises that are in operation and planned for commissioning. Analysis of thepopulation of Siberia and the Far East shows a steady negative dynamics. Over the past 20 years, the region’s population hasdecreased by 12%. This is due to demographic factors, outflow of population due to migration to other regions, a decline inliving standards, deteriorating health and high mortality. Indicators of the death rate of alcohol abuse, the number of suicidesin the region exceed the average for Russia by 40-60%. The amount of the patients with drug addiction are 1.6 times more. These factors will severely limit the prospects for the development of the forestry and chemical industries and the region asa whole.
