Outpatient treatment and rehabilitation of patients with spine and spinal cord injury
Abstract
Damage of the spine and spinal cord, most often are caused by traumatic injuries. The outcome of injury depends on the severity of damage, features of the organism and correct rehabilitation and treatment. In trauma of the spinal cord below the level of injury, damage of motor, sensory and reflex functions (lost of physical activity, reduced muscle tone, there are sensory disorders, pelvic disorders) usually ocure. Intensity of clinical manifestations, the patient’s ability to self- care and mobility, prognosis of restoration of normal life are defined by the level of spinal cord injury. The most serious condition is caused by spinal cord injury at the cervical level. This article describes the outpatient stage of treatment and rehabilitation of a patient with vertebral spinal injury of cervical spine after neurosurgical treatment.
